the PLAN ...
(Blog# 01)
Where I am now isn't my original plan.
*do the flash backing*
When I heard my name mentioned that I belong to PRACTICUM ONE while majority of my closest friends belong to the other group ... I was really like
(O.o)
*my lappy's not good in drawing, my bad *
HAHAHA
knowing my situation, I really had a hard time deciding where am I to go, what road shall I take and what field will I enter
*@_@*
A lot of questions running on my mind,
worries are hunting me everywhere I go,
and not just butterflies but it was like the whole zoo's in my stomach.
*sigh*
But I got no excuse,
I have to decide.
Whether I like it or yes ...
PLAN A:
Daughters of Saint Paul slash PAULINES.
But, what am I gonna do there?
PLAN B:
CEBU CATHOLIC TELEVISION CHANNEL.
Bigger 'BUT' ...
TV? for a Camera shy like me?
uh oh!
THE DECISION:
I made two application letters, printed two copies of resumes and processed two endorsement letters as well... for the two companies where I am planning to sharpen myself.
Indeed, I was able to produce those.
Unexpectedly, I've come up with a decision that I must only take one company, apply to one company and be in a company.
FINAL DECISION:
CCTN-47
the ACTION ...
(Blog# 02)
"and now, the end is here and so I face the FINAL curtain ..."
*hoping that this is really the right WAY, my way!*
the first day came ...
not first day of class nor first day of vacation ...
FIRST DAY OF DUTY!!!
it was not that nervous though for I have gained enough confidence, guts and trust to myself, I'm just hoping it will work.
During my first weeks,
I just had my "Suroy-Suroy Sugbo" experience.
Unlike SSS, it was only for a while and didn't visit scenic places.
hehehe
First week is plainly observation and I still don't have my permanent senior that time.
Second week came and I told our News Director, Mr. Dennes Tabar that I would want to be in the POLICE BEAT ... good thing he agreed and introduced to me the cameraman, Kuya Jerry, the most smiling of all.
The next day, we went to the Cebu City Police Office ... there I knew that Gabriel Bonjoc is my senior reporter.
Also, I was introduced to the world of POLICE!
with Miss Jinkz of TV5,
Miss Jill of SunStar,
Kuya Ryan of DYRC,
Ms.Ana of GMA7,
Sir ReyPas of Banat,
other reporters ... various interns and of course my two KUYAS ... Jerry and Gabriel ... made my stay in CCPO, CPPO and other police stations a very memorable one.
HIGHLIGHTS:
*PNP Recruitment
-when I had my solo coverage, my senior was not there and I had to cover the event so Kuya Jerry, the smiling cameraman and I combined forces and helped each other tin making the coverage a success and indeed, it was! I learned to be independent and really tested my capacity and skill.
*SAMSAM Gullas at Marco Polo
-though I was not the one who made the story for this particular event this is probably the most memorable one ... because the day after that event I saw myself in the SuperBalita front page and inside the SunStar newspaper ... it was a picture of me, other members of the media and Samsam while we were conducting an interview.
the LOVE ...
(Blog# 03)
It's not the kind of love you are thinking,
nor what they are thinking ...
for me,
it is LOVE for I am LOVING my stay.
I realized one thing,
that it is not the praises, the compliments and the approval a person receives can make him/her contented ...
IT IS LOVE!
being in this world,
the world of media,
the real world is not as easy as 1, 2, 3
nor as simple as a,b,c.
It requires credibility, pressure and would give you aches...
but every little pain fades the moment you feel the contentment that despite how hard it was you would still want to do it again not because of the hours required but the thing called LOVE and PASSION to WORK.
Aside from the supportive people,
what makes me more eager is the place itself ... maybe because it's a Catholic channel surrounded by people close and attached to God.
... at this time,
I can say that I would love continue this internship in this place and with these people even if I'm already done with my 200 hours.
Also, I am loving the media world not because of its perks and freebies but because of the excitement for it involves people, of different kinds everyday.
SPECIAL BLOG
PROFESSIONALISM
“The level of excellence or competence that is expected of a professional”, that is how business dictionary.com defined the word professionalism. Basically, it involves excellence and competence to be a professional. Back when I was still younger that my age now, professional people for me are people who have reached and earned a degree in a particular field…and for me, professional persons do practice professionalism in their working place, with their workmates and even outside the company they are working. However, when I had my chance to be with them and see them working, I was able to realize that not all professionals have that professionalism value in their hearts.
Internship experience opened many doors for an aspiring professional like me, particularly, the door of the professionals and their ways. Both good and not-that-good professionals, practice professionalism and not… I’ve seen them. But I didn’t take those negatively, instead I consider them as examples …examples worthy of emulation and not worthy to be followed.
At the end of the day, professionalism is putting a strong effort into being at work and on task and aspiring to be a better employee and help the company succeed. I would still want myself to be someone professional who observes professionalism.

Hello, midterm! Hello, new mentor!
Because of some changes needed to be faced, I have a new senior reporter this time.
My previous beat was Police beat and I can really say that I have learned a lot, I was able
to realize my other capabilities and knowledge with regards to news writing and
gathering. Also, being in that beat made my confidence boost and my sense of being
independent nourished.
I could still remember, it was during my first few weeks… I went on field with Ms.
Janice, unexpectedly, I had my finger wounded because of the slipped wire in the van
(station’s car service). I saw the concern and care of Miss, when we arrived in the DOH’s
office, she asked for an alcohol for my wound. I was really happy and overwhelmed
because of her caring for her intern.
Now, I am in a broader and wider beat…Cebu City beat. With my new senior, Miss
Janice Olmilla, a Josenian too. She’s really loud but not irritating and annoying, she’s
open-minded and very generous in everything that she know and have, lastly, she really
gives time and effort in helping me to grow and make the most out of my internship
time.
One of my unforgettable experiences with her was during PNoy’s State of the Nation
Address. It was a simple day yet what made it unforgettable are the things we shared
with each other. College life, how is it to be one of the people doing rally in the streets
, how she stood for her beliefs and the usual topic, love life. One thing I love about her
is the concern and “motherly-care.” She’s not just a mentor and a senior, she is a friend
who’s willing to help and mould me.
With Miss Janice, I learned how to work smart, not hard. To work with a smile and be
a people-person. It is not of what others think about you, it is how you see yourself and
you're happy with it. Do not settle for something you got from others (news gathering),
learn to stand on your own and do not rely on others. Probably this is the simplest thing
I've learned from her, ASK QUESTIONS...do not mind if people will think that you
do not know a thing because those who ask are humble enough to admit that they do
not know everything but they know the right thing to do for them to get the information
they want.

Meet and Greet,
His Eminence Ricardo Cardinal
Vidal!
It was a Friday when we went to see and get the details of the arrival of Pedro
Calungsod’ image, I didn’t know it will be in Cardinal’s place. *really excited*
When we arrived there, we were late. *hehe* because we had to follow-up some other
people. ABS-CBN, TV5, GMA-7, various radio stations and print media people were
there, it was a rewarding experience when I saw Cardinal closely. After the interview
and chit-chatting with other reporters, we had a group picture taking and I was so glad
, delighted and all the happy feelings… because I was in the picture, with them. After
that, I really asked my senior if she could take picture with me and Cardinal and she was
very cheerful and immediately grab my phone to get the picture. The smile on my face
is very noticeable and I feel so happy, very happy. The best part? Cardinal talked with
me! *smiles and feels blessed*
Cardinal: be a saint.
Me: ahh ehh… *smiles*
Cardinal: gusto mong makapunta sa langit?
Me: yes, Cardinal J
Cardinal: *pats my shoulder*then be a saint, para makapunta ka sa langit.
Me: Cardinal, makapunta lang po ako sa langit Masaya na po ako *smiles at him*
Cardinal: basta, maging santo ka. Always remember, anyone of us can be a saint.
Me: *wide smile* yes, Cardinal. Thank you J
Indeed, it was a very overwhelming day. A blessing indeed J

... END to START.
They say GOOD THINGS NEVER LAST...indeed.
This won't really lasts because this is just a level, a particular level where I had myself
tested, challenged and sharpened.
I admit, it was not an easy work...
Wake up early to report to office,
go on field to gather news,
meet different people from different walks of life,
talk, ask, consult, verify, follow up ...
next is to construct the story,
ask my senior's help in editing and coming up for a better report,
record and find the appropriate sound-on-tape for my report,
finalize everything,
assist the production,
operate the prompter,
...the moment the newscasts ends, that ends my work as an intern for that day.
...next day...same thing...same...same...
Many would say, this work is boring for same thing happens in an everyday job. But for
me, it is NOT. Yes, same things happen everyday... wake up, gather, report...gather,
report...gather, report. You know what makes worth-living? the
PEOPLE...SITUATION... THRILL...EXCITEMENT... nothing happens everyday, I
mean, what happened yesterday will not happen today, maybe the same person, the
same issue ... but not exactly the very thing that has happen. Primarily, that's the very reason why I love and I would want myself to be a part of the
industry in the near future.
CCTN, has thought a lot of things... sadly, I could not put it all here but I am sure and I
am confident enough that I can act on those pieces of learning.
I am very thankful for God's guidance, He brought me in and let me in to a group of
amazingly talented and good-hearted folks. I am so blessed. There were times when I
wanted to quit and got disappointed because I could not reach the things I want to reach.
Little did I know, God's testing me... now, I can proudly say that ...
IT WAS NOT AN EASY WAY BUT, I PASSED AND I GOT A
BETTER SELF!
to God be all the Glory and Praise.
THANK YOU,
CCTN.
THANK YOU,
MY LORD.
